Letter to Parents 15 May 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians and Pupils,

I hope that everyone is keeping well and safe. Another week has passed and hopefully we will see some easing of the restrictions. It is important that we continue to follow the advice given so we all remain safe and we will come through this.

Well done to all the boys who continue to work so hard. It is not easy being away from school, the teacher and SNAs and your friends. Try to give time each day to schoolwork or other projects you have become involved in. We are always delighted to receive your work via email and again we have seen some fantastic work sent to us. For parents we appreciate the demands on you so please do not let homework be an additional source of stress or worry. If we can assist you there are email addresses you can make contact with us through. Thank you for the many kind and thoughtful emails you have sent … they help to keep us going too. We are glad you liked our staff video.

This would have been a very busy week in school for everyone involved in the First Communion with the final touches being made today to make sure everything ran smoothly. The Parents’ Association would also have been busy preparing for the Communion Breakfast. When it is safe to do so we will rearrange and the boys will celebrate their “big day”.

Fr John will conduct a service in the Church at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday 16 May for the boys and their families who were due to receive their First Communion that day. It will be accessible on the parish website: johnstownkillineyparish.com and click on live Mass.

Well done to the boys who submitted some fantastic art work, messages, cards for the patients and staff in the National Rehabilitation Centre. You can still submit work to Mrs Behan abehan@olgc.ie will forward your work to the NRC. In these difficult times it is fantastic to be able to help someone and you have definitely done this. Thank you so much for making a fantastic effort on this project.

2nd Classes: Email issued yesterday re not reconstituting our second classes this year. If you have not received it please email the school.

6th Classes: Email issued re Transfer Information to Secondary Schools. If not received please email the school.

Thank you for your assistance and support. I hope you have a lovely weekend. Remember to stay safe and stay well at all times.

Yours sincerely,

Neil Cadogan
