As per holiday schedule the school will be closed for mid-term from Monday October 30th to Friday, November 3rd (inclusive). Normal school closing times will apply on the previous Friday.
Primary Languages Inservice November 14th
Notification has been received from the Professional Development Service for Teachers, that inservice pertaining to the Revised Languages Curriculum will be delivered to the teaching staff on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017. As a result the school will be closed for all pupils on that date.
The enrolment process for September 2018 will commence immediately after mid-term. Over the last number of years we have had parents who overlooked putting down their child’s name for enrolment and didn’t realise it until they heard that other people had been given places. Unfortunately, in some instances, all the available places had been allocated by the time the omission was realised and people were dependant on cancellations into late August at times. If your child is due to commence school in September 2018 please check that you got an acknowledgement from the school or alternatively you can contact the Secretary at (01) 2851449 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
October Cake Sale
The annual Cake Sale which helps fund the Christmas Fair will be held on Friday, 27th October. Parental help is essential on the day. This annual Halloween Cake Sale is hugely anticipated by all the children. Obair bhaile for Thursday 26th will be to bake or buy cakes, buns etc., which can be brought into school on Friday morning. Sincerest thanks to all those who continue to support us so generously with their contributions. Novelty Halloween cakes are, as always, particularly welcome for the raffle on the day. If you are in a position to help out at the Boys’ Cake Sale please contact Angie Byrne 0876339346. Please be aware that we are a nut free school so avoid nuts or nut related products when baking.
Thank you for supporting our previous recycling ventures. The next recycling day will be held on Friday, November 17th. Lenrec collect:-
new & used mens’, womens’ & childrens’ clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, ties, linens, household textiles, soft toys.
Your support is appreciated. Items can be dropped into the school nearer the collection date.
Christmas Back Pack Appeal (4th – 6th classes)
We are delighted to be able to take part in “A Lending Hand” Christmas backpack appeal again this year with our senior classes 4th – 6th. Over 180 backpacks were donated last year and were gratefully accepted by the charity.
This organisation provides hot meals, clothes and toiletries to the homeless men, woman and families on the streets of Dublin on a regular basis. Every Christmas they organise a shoe box appeal along with a Christmas backpack appeal which is then delivered to the homeless on Christmas Eve by volunteers.
A Christmas backpack could include any of the following items:
Something to keep warm; sleeping bags, hats, scarves, gloves, snoods, socks, underwear, rain ponchos, instant heat packs for hands.
Something to use; toothbrush, toothpaste, roll on deodorant, face wipes, body wipes, lip balm, shower gel, shampoo.
Something for a treat; tubes of sweets, chocolate or a small selection box, ticktacks, mints, chewing gum, a can/bottle of coke, 7up etc. or small cartons of juice.
All items can be brought into the Boys’ school until the 8th December where we will have a collection point for all donations.
