Letter to Parents 2 May 2019

Dear Parents,

Our Annual Sponsored Walk in aid of School Sporting Activities will take place on Wednesday 8th May, weather permitting.  Sport is a central and vital aspect of school life in which all children are encouraged to participate.  Pupils are involved in Gaelic Football, Hurling, Soccer, Basketball, Chess, Athletics, Tag Rugby, Cross Country and Indoor Athletics.  Gaelic and basketball coaching are also widely availed of.  We are also fortunate to have a fully qualified P.E. teacher who works with classes from Junior Infants to 1st, concentrating on gymnastics and motor movement thereby complementing the work done by class teachers.  Bus transport to matches is also provided and last year the bulk of this was paid for by Christmas Fair.

We also acknowledge and thank our teachers and parents who give freely of their time and expertise cultivating and developing an interest and love of sport in the children.

We would be grateful for your support of our Sponsored Walk by allowing your child to get sponsorship and participate in the walk – for Infants classes this will involve the local school environs. Other classes will use Kilbogget Park.  Set out is the income expenditure for sports for the school year 2017/2018.  We thank you for making all of this possible and hopefully this year’s walk will be another great success.

Polling Day May 24th

In connection with the forthcoming European Parliament and Local Government Elections and Referendum the returning officer has requisitioned the school and grounds for 24th May 2019.  As a result, the school will be closed for all pupils on that date.

Child Safeguarding – Access to school

A reminder to everyone to allow children enter the school accompanied by their teacher in the mornings.  Access to the school during the day is through the door near the secretary’s office.  All visitors to the school must report to the office and wait there while your child is sent for.  No parents are permitted to call to classrooms throughout the day for any reason.

Results will be announced on Friday May 17th at a ceremony in the Town Hall in Dún Laoghaire to which we have been invited.
