Active schools week is currently underway with all classes partaking in a range of activities including athletics, a variety of ball games, rugby, obstacle course (senior classes). Thank you to Mr. Moloney, Ms. Bouskine and Ms. Browne for their work in organising Active Schools Week. Rainjackets and suncream should be brought and/or worn on Friday. All classes will partake in the annual sponsored walk for school sporting activities on Friday- weather permitting. Hopefully, there will be a good response to this year’s walk.
Well done to all the boys who participated in the “The Daily Mile” event in Kilbogget Park last week organised by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership. It was a great occasion to get all the school from 1st class upwards involved and active. Approximately 800 children participated.
As notified the next recycling collection will take place on May 9th. Items for recycling include:-
new & used mens’, womens’ & childrens’ clothing,
shoes, belts, handbags, ties,
linens, household textiles,
stuffed toys & books.
Items can be left in the school hall from tomorrow on. Money from the last recycling venture will go towards paying for a visiting theatre group who will stage Treasure Island for the entire school on May 24th. Thank you for your support.
We remind all pupils to wear correct uniform at all times. Tracksuit is only worn on P.E. days or other days, as the class teacher may designate if particular events are taking place. During good weather school polo shirt can be worn with navy or blue shorts.
Pupils not returning in September
For a variety of reasons a small number of children transfer from the school from time to time. If, for any reason, your child will not be returning to us in September we would appreciate if you would inform us immediately as we have children on waiting lists for next year.
Standardised testing in English and Mathematics will take place next week on May 9th and 11th in classes from 1st upwards. Children do not need to be in any way anxious about these tests, but it is important that they are in school on the days the tests are administered. Results will issue with the Summer Reports in June.
Our second class pupils will receive their First Communion on Saturday May 20th. Traditionally, the Parents’ Association have hosted a “Communion Breakfast” for the boys and their families in the school hall afterwards. We thank them for organising this lovely event. They need helpers on the Saturday morning between 11.30 and 1.00p.m. so if you are in a position to help please text Emer Fitzgerald on 087-7782385 with your details.
If anyone has plastic bedding-plant trays please drop them in to school as the Garden Club will make good use of them. Date for your diary: Garden Open Day will take place on 9th June. All welcome.
Best of luck to our School Chess team who are through to the Checkmate National finals in Limerick on Friday, May 12th – the team has not been finalised and there is a nailbiting contest taking place for the 4th position on the team!!!
Thank you your continued support and assistance.
