As per the holiday schedule the school will close for Christmas holidays on Friday next December 22nd at 12 noon. It will re-open on Monday, January 8th 2018 at 8.50 a.m.
We welcome Mrs. Cotterell, Deputy Principal back to school and we thank Mr. Clancy for all his hard work while he was acting as Deputy Principal. Sadly, the New Year heralds Mrs. de Barra’s retirement on January 8th. She has made an enormous contribution to the education, development and well-being of many pupils during her time here. She shared her musical talents working with staff and pupils especially the boys who were fortunate to be in the Choir. Over the years our choirs have been testament to her dedication and enthusiasm and people have always commented on how well the choirs performed. We thank her for all her work and wish her a long, healthy, happy and well deserved retirement.
Before Mrs de Barra retires we would like to remind you of the Carol Services:-
The Parish Carol Service will be held in the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel on Sunday evening commencing at 7.00p.m. The school choir will perform.
The School Carol Service will be held at 11.00a.m. on Wednesday, December 20th in the Church. Parents are welcome to join us if they are free.
Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of our annual Christmas Fair. The Fair is a long-standing community event without which it would be impossible to provide additional resources and equipment in the schools. Final figures are not to hand as some items from the auction have not yet been collected and we are also awaiting outstanding bills. Final figures will issue as soon as they are available. Again, we thank our dedicated, hardworking helpers, everyone who donated items to the Fair including local businesses and those who attended and supported the Fair in any way.
St Vincent de Paul Annual Food (non-perishable) Collection
The annual collection will take place tomorrow. We thank everyone who has brought in food to date.
Well done to all the boys in our 4th to 6th classes who in their generosity donated a staggering 130 backpacks to this very worthy cause. This appeal has been really well supported in the school and makes such a difference to those who are homeless. The backpacks were collected last Friday by ‘A Lending Hand’.
Recycling Materials – Christmas Decorations
Congratulations to Luke Holland (Mr. Moloney’s class) whose Santa Sleigh decoration was selected to represent the school in the annual Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council
Recycled Christmas Decoration Competition. Other school prizewinners were
Frank Villalonga Corr, Lewis Doyle, Dylan McGuirk, Kahl and Kye Murphy. Well done to everyone who participated as judging the decorations was a very difficult task.
Congratulations to the 137 boys who have had full attendance to date this term.
Again we appeal to parents NOT to send pupils who are clearly unwell to school.
The merit system appears to be working well with far fewer instances of misbehaviour being reported. We also congratulate the boys for their efforts on wearing correct uniform and on how well they present themselves.
Finally, we take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their ongoing support of the school during the year. We wish you and your family a very happy, peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.
